Temple: This temple is also called the Vishveswara Temple.
Neither large nor small, this temple was built by Rani AhilyaBaiHolkar of
Indore in 1776. It is dedicated to Lord Vishveswara-Shiva as the Lord of the universe.
The original temple was destroyed by Emperor Aurangzeb and rebuilt by the
Queen. The temple towers have 800 kg gold plating, donated by Maharaja Ranjit
Singh of Punjab.
Tulsi ManasTemple:
The Tulsi Manas Temple
is at a distance of 150 meters in a southerly direction of the Durga Temple. It
was built in 1964. It has two levels of walls, etched with verses and important
scenes from the Shri Ram CharitManas, written
by poet Tulsidas. It is built entirely in white marble and the reigning deity
here is Lord Rama.
