Every
tourist who visits Rajasthan, India must make it a point to experience the
extraordinary Pushkar Camel Fair. This fair is also known as Pushkar Mela. It
began as a cattle trading fair where owners brought their camels, horses and
cows to trade here. Now about 100 years old, the Pushkar Fair has evolved from
a cattle trade fair to a grand show of Rajasthan’s vibrancy and cultural
heritage. As its scale increases, it continues to attract tourists from every
corner of the world. Every year, this fair is organized in the pilgrim town of
Pushkar, in the month of Kartik and it ends on the Holy day of Kartik Purnima. This
is in mid-October and November. It is
said that this fair attracts over 200,000 people every year. This year, the Pushkar Camel Fair 2019 will be held between Monday, 4
November 2019 to Tuesday, 12 November 2019.
